Not as easy as it looks...EBay...

Here, is one of my items up for auction this week! Isn't she adorable!!!???

One would think that it would be easy to sell on EBay. Find item, take photo of item, list item, sell item.

Alas, it is never quite that easy....

First - FIND the item - no easy task for those of us who are organizationally impaired.

Second - Once the item is found - one must take a photo of said item. This goes okay sometimes, but I've never had a steady hand and often I end up with a blurred picture, or the lighting isn't right or the item is bigger than the place I have where I take the photo...or my favorite...the batteries are dead because I left the camera on!

Third - Write the description. Is the item tall, short, round, square...what about odd shape items? If it is glass, what kind is it? Remember, you want that description to be exciting, you want it to make you WANT the item! You have to become a marketing guru to make the picture come alive and the person drool for your merchandise!

Fourth - So then if you're lucky --- the item sells! NOW you must package the item --- the part that I hate! Why do I have boxes for every size you can imagine, but not a single one for the item I need to pack? If the item is fourteen inches - I have ten twelve inch boxes and one eighteen inch box!

BUT...in the end --- I still find EBay fun! I love the challenge of the hunt for the perfect item to sell! I love thinking of clever ways to say what it is and I love getting to practice my photography skills.

Packaging the item...well, that's another story....

List, list, list!

Okay, so the blog everyday thing didn't seem to work this week. Did I mention I suffer from time managment issues?

Each day I start out with a list of "To-Do" and by the end of the day - if I got half of it done - I feel I did good....Actually, I'm surprised I got the half done...but that is another story.

This week --- I have been trying to get more listed on EBay. I opened a store and though I am very excited about it --- I find the task of getting it up and going to be quite daunting! What should I list? What price should I put on it? Will anyone want this? You hate to spend money on something by lisiting it --- only to find out that you are the only one that sees it for the treasure that it is.

But I love the idea - the concept of finding something old and finding a new home for it! Taking something one no longer wants and putting it in the hands of someone who wants it. Surely, that has to bring some good karma around - right?

Signing off for today --- I have thrift stores to visit and a 'day job' to attend to.

Until next time....

Day One - A new beginning!

I have found that I tend to start blogs and then after a week or two my good intentions fall to the waste side and the blog just sort of dies. Sooo...this time I have decided that I will make this a record of my journey to achieve my goals. What are my goals you may ask?
1) To become a Published Author
2) To become a Power Seller On EBay
3) To have a completely organized house by Christmas (2008)
4) To pay off our credit cards using The Dave Ramsey Way
5) To write to this blog once a day or at least once a week.
Will I succeed? Can I do it? Stay tuned and find out....
