Kitten Dilemma

So....one of our barn cats had three kittens. I was just about to make an appointment with the vet to get her fixed when this occurred. She lost the smallest one, the second one is doing okay, but the third...

The third is having eye problems. Bad eye problems. As in one of the eyes is very swollen and nasty looking.

A trip to the vet was inconclusive other than the vet says the vision in that eye is gone and the best thing to do is to remove it. IF an eye doctor would even work on a kitten of that age. (Six to 8 weeks old)

Unfortunately, that would cost between $700-$1500 and we just don't have it. My first thought was that it might be best to just put this poor thing to sleep, but I've been taking care of it over the weekend and this kitten is a fighter. It deserves to live. It eats, it plays, it has figured out how to move around (albeit slowly) without getting into too much trouble.

I'm going to call a woman at a cat rescue this afternoon to see if she has any ideas about what to do. Hopefully, she will have some thoughts on this. This kitten deserves to make it. I just have to find a way to make it happen.
